Studying in Dutch
Studying in an international environment

Cooperation with other universities and research institutions is essential to the University of Amsterdam's (UvA) strategy for creating an international learning environment. Equally important is the development of programmes specifically attuned to the needs of international students. With over 2,000 international students and researchers from over 80 countries, the University offers both international and Dutch students a unique opportunity to acquire academic knowledge in a truly global environment.
A large offering of English-taught programmes makes the UvA more accessible to international students than most other European universities. Classes are attended by both international and Dutch students.
The UvA has an extensive network of foreign partner universities, facilitating student and staff exchanges. Within Europe, the UvA has Socrates/Erasmus exchange agreements with over 200 institutions. Outside Europe, the UvA maintains close ties with about 40 universities across all continents.
English-taught graduate programmes
Most of the international programmes are offered at the graduate level. In addition to regular Master's programmes, the UvA also offers Research Master's, Advanced Master's and Professional Master's. There are also two English-taught undergraduate programmes available:
- Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business
- Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences
In addition to degree programmes, certificate programmes are available for those who are not seeking to obtain a university degree at the UvA.
